Aello was built in 1921 for Antonis Benakis, a prominent Greek merchant, art patron and founding member of the Yacht Club of Greece.

S/Y Aello is the last remaining large schooner from the legendary German shipbuilder, Max Oertz. After Benakis moved to Greece permanently, the yacht was acquired by a British Admiral who began a lengthy world voyage that spanned many years. Following over four decades of abandonment in a mud-berth in England - which consequently preserved her hull - S/Y Aello has been given a new lease of life as a luxury yacht. Along with beautiful original details such as the initials of the Yacht Club, which are engraved on her bronze wheel, S/Y Aello, today is an intoxicating blend of longstanding heritage with all the modern comforts for the ultimate classic sailing experience.
